The Family: A Proclamation to the World

Part of the reason I joined this wonderful church is that the Family is central--
Families are Forever...

Here is a beloved document; one that is read and charished. Please fill free to read it; and ponder what is here. It is a gift to the world.

The Family: A Proclamation to the World

The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day SaintsWe, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children. All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose. In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally. The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God's commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God's eternal plan.Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. "Children are an heritage of the Lord" (Psalms 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations. The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed. We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets. We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society. This proclamation was read by President Gordon B. Hinckley as part of his message at the General Relief Society Meeting held September 23, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I did all that, for love.

Imagine; waking up to the warm fresh smell of raisin and cinnamon buns, piping hot chocolate, with marshmallows, tantalizing mouth watering salt water taffy hand pulled right in front of your very eyes—and all your life, you have grown accustomed to having it—it has been there for you, a habit of yours day in and day out and then, in order to convert to a new way of life you must STOP cold turkey.

It’s difficult to change your way of life; to give up those desired vices like: coffee, tea, cigarettes, and cursing. It’s difficult to change your mannerisms and dress code to adhere to another way of thinking and life. I did all that, for love. Ah, not just for the love of a special man mind you, but for the love of the gospel. This is for a special feeling a certain warmth that burned deep within my soul. It wasn’t easy either—especially after the losses I endured just shortly after I entered the waters of baptism.

My Eternal Missonary

You embarked—to a far off world
At the age when most go to teach
The word—to seek out and give the gift
Of the gospel—
I kissed your hands, dangling off a gurney
We said our good-byes as the last breath drew
From your earthly being
“Till we meet again” Played a hurtful tune.
You teach, my eternal missionary
In the realm of the angels
You teach and grow and now know
The truth—
I felt you there, when endowments were given—
Kissing my neck…
I will see you again, in white we will meet at the
Savior’s feet.
My, eternal missionary

To my eternal missionary,
Robert David Baker-Inscore--
Who was sent to live with Heavenly Father on May 3rd, 1998
to serve on his mission--

The Gospel--a Living Testimony

As I partake of the Gospel I want to feast upon them hungerly-- like a begger starved for weeks...

My soul thirst for the waters that are neccisary to cleanse my spirit I long for the bread which will refresh my covenants made at baptism...

I sup, at the feet of my Savior, each time I read my scriptures, I revive my soul when I search, and ponder what I have read, and when it is quiet...

He speaks to me; in the still small voice, that tells me what I need. He speaks to me from a Prophet, from the Preisthood blessings, and from our leaders...

The Gospel is rich in nutrients-- it feeds our spirit an allows us to continue one to do the work, Christ would have us do. We can never get enough as it is neverending...

More than mere promises

On March 16, in the Jordan River Temple Barry and Catherine Inscore Were Sealed together for Time and Eternity--
Forever Partners....

More than mere promises

All in white we were
mirrors reflect—eternal
images show everlasting
beyond anything this
world will know

Thin veil
o truth—
love, hope
beliefs—
We give it ALL

Partners—
More than mere promises
Commitments are but shadows
In comparison
Vows are limitless…eternal

We are not Till
Death, do us part—
I will be with
you, my love,

On the other side
As your spouse—

Sweet Ordinances
Give us
Much more

Than just here—
We have….beyond
